This will act as a running compilation of planned updates and upgrades to the Operating System, WordPress and its components, Database, or Physical Hardware of the server.
- Site Layout - This is the theme that we will be using, however I’m basically going to take an ax to the design and recolor, rebanner, and edit some of the backend code so it does what I want it to do, and looks the way I want it to look.
- Image Galleries - Using Flikr, a hosting service from a third party (Yahoo), will allow us to upload images into custom galleries. These galleries will be visible through a series of thumbnails in a “slideshow” format. The slideshows can be placed into a post, then users will be able to click on the images individually to open them to full size.
- Tutorials / Walkthroughs - A section that will be available only to authors of the site that will walk them through different technical parts of the site allowing them to better manage site content and communication.
- Rolling over old content from the previous layout - Because we were running Server 2003 with the old site and since then migrated to Ubuntu Linux, the server drives have been reformatted for extra storage space and all of the old content is currently saved on a backup drive. We will slowly be transferring any pieces of work that need to be under the appropriate author names and titles.
- Setting up the mail server - We have a spare drive in the server that I don’t think we will ever need to touch for storage because of the offloading of the images we will be doing to Flickr. We are going to utilize this drive as a housing for a small mail server so we creators and authors will have e-mail contacts that will be associated to the new domain name.
