New Background – UPDATED
Posted by JerodApr 25
So my design finger was itching this afternoon so I sat down for a few hours and compiled a new background for the theme that we were using to give the site an updated personality. I’d like to get everyone’s opinions on it so just comment on this post and I’ll make the modifications as I have time.
I do plan on slowly tweaking the rest of the aspects on the site (ie: font type, font size, colors, logos, footer, etc…). Right now I’d like to just concentrate on the background.
Here was my source of Inspiration.
Other areas of updates:
- Favicon
- Comments
- Footer
- Header
- Sidebar
Areas of comments / concerns:
- Background not dark enough – I have modified this to be darker, please let me know what you think of the new color and if it makes the text on the first post any easier to read.
Thanks in advance for the comments.

I most definitely like this new design/background. The fading to gray is a nice touch on a "grungy" metal look. Very cool effect. I do have one concern. The text is hard to read for the first post, which lies directly over the most opaque area of the background. Perhaps a different shade for the text or an overall higher transluscency for the center "body" area? If these were possible, I'd say they would perfect this great design.

Note for IE6 Users:
The entire page displays differently when opened in Internet Explorer 6. Text color and size is different than programmed and may be very hard to read. It is recommended that the page be viewed in IE7+ or Firefox, for example to view the information herein correctly.
Jerod,
I have been checking the visuals here at work where we have access to IE6 only. This was the cause of me seeing different things in formatting. Disregard my previous comment. Although, I do like the change you’ve already made =P

Yea, I was thinking the same thing myself. I can do a higher opacity on the background so it would enhance the text more. I’ll give it a shot and post back when I have the change made.
