If Only to Appreciate
Posted by CharlesDec 31
Stress will come. Depression will come. They always do. You must find within yourself the inner strength and solidarity to know – not hope – but know that you will pull yourself from the wreckage, no matter how minor or life-altering. Joy isn’t joy without the pain by which it is defined. Happiness is measured by each and every negative feeling that opposes it. Sunny days aren’t so sunny without the presence of the occasional storm. How could a person decide that through hardship and strife, they are broken beyond measure, that there is nothing left for them, and that they must give up? These things, even the most difficult and mind-numbingly repetative, create us. They build within us the fibers that make us whole. There is absolutely no gain in this world without cost – without some sort of pain. You will learn to purchase what you need and what you want by working hard for it. Appreciation of those things that you worked toward obtaining then blooms and becomes steadfast and permanent. If you practice this principle, you will see that it is not necessary to lose something before truly appreciating it. The key to real appreciation is not waiting until you’ve lost what is precious; but actively working to achieve, maintain, and thoroughly enjoy that which is precious.

To comment on the first half of the posting, I would have to think that the Shinedown lyric
All of which I completely agree with.
“If there was nothing wrong, Then there’d be nothing right”
pretty much coincides with what you are saying

Your writings are quite intense. Not overwhelmingly so, but absolutely so in the sense of making one think about how they are living life. As well as what appreciations could, or even should be shown more of. Possibly the purpose?
I like it.
